Special Day of Mindfulness lead by the Abbot of Kim Son Monastery Venerable Thich Tinh Tu
Brothers and Sisters of Magnolia Village Monastery
Dear friends,
These past weeks at Magnolia Village Monastery have marked the path of happiness to the Monastics as well as friends: The Multifuctional Activity House has completed after almost six months. On September 28, the Monastery had an inauguration ceremony to invite the Buddha statue into the meditation hall in the new house and on October 5, the Monastic Sisters have moved into the house. The house has given much Brotherhood, Sisterhood and immeasurable memories during these past six months. We continue to remind ourselves to live beautifully in the present moment like we have done while building the house together.
Dear friends,
A surprised event took place six months ago has given much joy and happiness to Magnolia Village. Venerable Thich Tinh Tu, Abbot of Kim Son Monastery in California, received the news of six residential Sisters from Plum Village are now permanent residents in Magnolia Village Monastery. He then decided to make a visit to the Monastery and gave encouraging words to the Sisters on the path of practice. In 1990s, our Teacher Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh led many retreats for monastics as well as for lay friends in Kim Son Monastery. Today, Venerable Thich Tinh Tu continues to share the practice of mindful living to practitioners. The practices of mindful eating, mindful walking, listening to the sound of the bell, coming back to the present moment and breathing are being practiced at his monastery daily.
It is our happiness to share with you the Venerable is making another visit to Magnolia Village Monastery. While travellng and give teachings in the South, he has accepted our invitation to give teachings in Magnolia Village Monastery on Sunday October 17, 2010.
We hope you can organize your time and join us for this special Day of Mindfulness.
