Help us build a home for 30 monastic brothers
Since 2005, Magnolia Grove Monastery has been a mindfulness practice center in the Plum Village tradition under Thich Nhat Hanh in Batesville, Mississippi. What began as a vision by a group of committed individuals and families for a practice center in the south has now manifested into a beautiful refuge thanks to the hard work, support, love, and generosity of those individuals and the local community.
Today, more than 30 monks and nuns reside at Magnolia Grove. Next year, the number of monks and nuns in residence at Magnolia Grove is expected to double. As a result, living space has become greatly limited for our monastic brothers and sisters. The brothers at Magnolia Grove are currently living in the women’s guest dorms (during retreat times), and sometimes 25 brothers live in only four rooms.
While Magnolia Grove has received tremendous support in recent years to support its continuation and growth – including building the new Rising Tide Meditation Hall in one year to accommodate over 1,000 retreatants– there is still more to be done to support our monastic brothers and sisters who generously give their time and energy to help us practice.
This summer, Magnolia Grove plans to break ground on the construction of a new dormitory to serve as living quarters for up to 30 monastic brothers. To build this dormitory for our brothers, we need to raise $380,192. This new dormitory will not only provide more spacious living quarters for our brothers, it will also free up space in existing dormitories to accommodate the growing number of visitors that Magnolia Grove receives every year.
We ask you to please help us continue the vision and please make a donation today to help us build a new dormitory for our brothers.
