Calling for Volunteers!

Help needed for Summer Retreat

Dear Friends,

Would you like to be a Volunteer and help with our Summer Retreat?

To offer mindful and joyful service and work alongside monastics?

Service meditation and being a service leader is both fulling, challenging, and fun!

Are you up for this next level of service meditation?

If so, please join us and be a Volunteer!

To be a Volunteer for this retreat, we ask that you must have attended at least 1 retreat with us before with us at Magnolia Grove Monastery. (It’s most helpful to have experienced first hand what our practice schedule is like, the flow, and are familiar with our monastery grounds before becoming a service leader in showing others the work flow with ease.)

Volunteers agree to:
– lead groups during service meditation helping with basic work assignments (pot washing, drying dishes, cleaning bathrooms, recycling etc.)
– help set up circles for Dharma sharing
– help monastics in the teens’ or children’s program if they have experience and expertise in working with children or teens (one or two people only)
– live according to the 5 Mindfulness Trainings while at the monastery
– live in harmony with the community

We ask that our Volunteers:
– be in good enough physical, emotional and psychological health
– be familiar with the Plum Village practice and our center/s
– have attended a retreat before in one of our centers

– If possible: arrive on Jul 1 and leave late Jul 6 or in the morning of Jul 7. If you have already booked travel for other days, we may still be able to consider you for volunteering. Please mention this in the Volunteer Application form.
– understand that you may need to leave an activity early/stay behind after an activity to set up for the following activity or miss an activity depending on your service meditation.

*Volunteers will receive a 50% reduction in fees.

We look forward to working and practicing with you!

With Love,
Magnolia Grove Monastery Monastics
