Our teacher would often say that the next Buddha is the sangha. The collective practice of mindfulness is the way to collective awakening. This is the best thing we can offer the world. Our world needs our practice of awakening. Together we will cultivate mindfulness, concentration and insight – crucial elements on the path to happiness and freedom. Freedom from worry, fear and despair about our lives and about our future.
In this five-day retreat for young people aged 18-35, we will explore how the teachings of mindfulness and Engaged Buddhism can offer us concrete and sustainable practices to cultivate inner peace, joy and faith. When we practice mindfulness together, we can experience the miraculous healing and transformative power of community. Together we build a happy future.
During the retreat we will build beloved community by listening to each other in circle sharings, listening to Dharma talks, practicing sitting, walking and eating meditation, while being nourished and held by the restorative peace and wonder of nature all around.
The retreat welcomes young adults of any background, race, religion or gender identity, whether seasoned mindfulness practitioners or those who are new to mindfulness practice. We hope to offer affinity groups for friends who identify as LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC if there is sufficient interest or need.
We hope to make the retreat accessible to all. Please do not hesitate to contact our office (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you need financial support to attend this retreat.
